Spanwise

Cookie Policy

The two cookies Spanwise uses, and the ones it does not.

Last updated: 1 September 2026.

This page explains the cookies Spanwise uses. It sits alongside our privacy notice, which covers personal data more generally.

The short version

Spanwise uses two cookies, both strictly necessary to sign you in and keep you signed in. We use no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no third-party tracking of any kind. Because the cookies we set are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for, we do not show a cookie banner and we do not ask for consent, which is what the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 require.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store and send back on your next request. It is how a site remembers that the current request is part of the same session as the last one, so that you do not have to sign in again on every page.

The cookies we set

NamePurposeHow long it lasts
sessionKeeps you signed in to the Spanwise application after you log in. Without it, every page would ask you to sign in again.8 hours. If you tick "keep me signed in" at login, 30 days. Cleared when you sign out.
admin_sessionThe same thing for the staff panels used to administer the service. Only set for Spanwise staff accounts.8 hours. Cleared on sign out.

Both cookies are marked HttpOnly (your browser will not expose them to page scripts), SameSite=Lax (they are not sent from other websites), and Secure (only sent over an encrypted connection) whenever the site is served over HTTPS. They contain a random session identifier and nothing else: no name, no email, no document content.

Cookies we do not set

The marketing pages at spanwise.co.uk set no cookies at all. A cookie is set only after you sign in.

Turning cookies off

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the session cookie you will not be able to stay signed in to Spanwise, because that cookie is how the service knows who you are from one page to the next. Blocking it does not otherwise harm your device.

Changes

If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, for example a measurement cookie, we will ask for your consent before setting it and we will update this page first.
